Bengal Slow Loris

Physical Characteristics:

• Small to medium-sized primate with a round head and large eyes.
• Fur coloration ranges from reddish-brown to grayish-brown.
• Distinctive white or light-colored markings on its face.
• No tail, with a round body and short limbs adapted for climbing.

Distribution:

• Found in northeastern India, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, and southern China.

Habitat:

• Primarily inhabits tropical and subtropical forests, including rainforests and deciduous forests.
• Prefers dense vegetation and spends much of its time in trees.

Behavior:

• Nocturnal, active during the night.
• Slow-moving and deliberate in its movements.
• Solitary or found in small family groups.
• Communicates through soft calls and scent markings.

Diet:

• Omnivorous, feeding on fruits, insects, small vertebrates, bird eggs, and tree sap.
• Specialized feeding adaptations include a strong bite for accessing tough food items like insect exoskeletons and gum from trees.
