Physical Characteristics:

Distribution:

  • Found in Southeast Asia, including India,  Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and parts of Myanmar and Thailand.

Habitat:

  • Prefers coastal areas, mangrove forests, and riverine habitats.
  • Also found in tropical rainforests and secondary forests.

Behavior:

  • Diurnal, active during the day.
  • Lives in large groups called troops, which can vary in size from several individuals to over a hundred.
  • Social structure involves grooming and hierarchical dominance.
  • Omnivorous diet includes a variety of foods such as crabs, fruits, seeds, and insects.
