Phayre’s Phayrei Langur
- Distribution: Southeast Asia (India, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam)
- Habitat: Tropical and subtropical forests
- Diet: Herbivorous, leaves, fruits
- Size: Height ranges around 50-60 cm
Physical Characteristics:
- Medium-sized primate with a slender build.
- Fur color varies from dark brown to black.
- Prominent crest of hair on the head.
- Long tail that is often longer than its body.
Distribution:
- Found in Southeast Asia, including India, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, and southern China (Yunnan Province).
Habitat:
- Inhabits tropical and subtropical forests, including primary and secondary forests.
- Prefers areas with dense canopy cover and a variety of tree species.
Behavior:
- Diurnal, active during the day.
- Arboreal, spending most of its time in trees and moving through the canopy.
- Lives in small family groups consisting of a mated pair and their offspring.
- Feeds primarily on leaves, fruits, and occasionally insects.
