Phayre’s Phayrei Langur

Physical Characteristics:

• Medium-sized primate with a slender build.
• Fur color varies from dark brown to black.
• Prominent crest of hair on the head.
• Long tail that is often longer than its body.

Distribution:

• Found in Southeast Asia, including India,  Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, and southern China (Yunnan Province).

Habitat:

• Inhabits tropical and subtropical forests, including primary and secondary forests.
• Prefers areas with dense canopy cover and a variety of tree species.

Behavior:

• Diurnal, active during the day.
• Arboreal, spending most of its time in trees and moving through the canopy.
• Lives in small family groups consisting of a mated pair and their offspring.
• Feeds primarily on leaves, fruits, and occasionally insects.
