Local Name: Jammi (Telegu), Khejri (Rajasthan), Sangri (Hindi)
Scientific Name: Prosopis cineraria (L.) Druce
Description: A small tree bearing bipinnate leaves, rough greyish-brown bark, slender branchlets with branches being thorned along the internodes, and small, creamy-yellow flowers.
Medical Use: The tree leaves are used to treat various ailments. The water-soluble extracts and isolated chemicals extracted from the Jammi pods have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
