Scientific Name: Paphiopedilum insigne
Description: This terrestrial herb grows best in shady spots, mainly on hilly slopes and in rocky crevices. The flowers are distinguished by pouches that resemble slippers. During its blossoming season, which spans from June to October, the flower typically opens in the morning and closes in the evening. When the flower blooms, most insects are drawn to it.
Uses: The flower is regarded by many Meghalayan tribes as a lucky charm and a sign of wealth. The flower offers horticultural benefits as well.
