Description: October to March is when the many vibrant blooms (purple, scarlet, pink, and white) bloom. There is no fruit produced by the plants. The sword-shaped leaves of this plant are known by their Latin name, gladius, which means sword. In unmodified wild species, inflorescences containing one or more flowers can have flowers ranging in size from minuscule to approximately 40 mm in diameter.
